Silvana "Amez-Droz & Cie" Tank in 14k Yellow Gold
Silvana "Amez-Droz & Cie" Tank in 14k Yellow Gold in fine condition. The watch has been worn, used and shows signs of patina. The case has fine scratching but still retains his original shapes with out dents. The dial features Arabic Numeral on a gold backdrop matching the blued stick hands. The finishing of the movement with the Côtes de Genève is well beyond it’s price range and is in “unserviced” condition.
A watch that can compete with other Swiss brands for half the price or maybe even less. The first watches to bear the Silvana name were made by Victor-Eugène Bahon in 1898 in La Chaux-de-Fonds, the cradle of Swiss watchmaking. The brand was officially registered in 1921 and quickly went on to success. They made some fine quality pieces until the 1950’s where bigger volumes where being produced at the cost of quality.
This watch features it all. Blued hands on a matching dial and high end finishing on the movement. A 14k Yellow Gold case, sturdily build with a slight curve to the design and has been made by “Amez-Droz & Cie., Boîtes de montres Zéma” (Poinçon de Maître No.1 (102)).
