Alpina-Gruen Tecno “Doctors watch”

Alpina-Gruen Tecno “Doctors watch”

Alpina-Gruen Tecno “Doctors watch” 1935 with crown-guard case.

This elegant rectangular watch is now commonly known as the “Doctors watch”.

Although it was never marketed as a specific doctors watch it was mentioned in a Gruen advertisement. "Especially for technicians, doctors, radio and mechanical engineers" - Gruen advertisement (1933)

The movement was made by Aegler and featured larger parts then other rectangular watch movements. Because of these larger parts it was a higher grade movement and seen as a high end watch at the time.

This movement was used in the Alpina Gruen Tecno, Gruen Tecni-Quadron and Rolex Prince. All watches where advertised as the best of the best at the time.
