Guy Charon (b. 1927)

Art

Guy Charon (b. 1927) is a French painter best known for his vibrantly colored landscape paintings and lithographs done in a style reminiscent of Raoul Dufy, a fellow French artist and designer aligned with Fauvism and Modernism.

Charon’s works have Fauvist-inspired colors, but are mellowed by the smooth application of paint and rounded shapes and lines.

Born on February 4, 1927 in Écueillé, France, he moved to Paris in 1951 and began exhibiting at the Salon de la Nationale des Beaux-Arts and the Salon des Independants.

His works are in the collections of the Musée de Saint-Cyrien, the Musée de Petit-Palais in Paris, and the Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, among others. Charon lives and works in Paris, France.
